We believe that school uniform:

  • promotes a sense of pride in the school;
  • engenders a sense of community and belonging towards the school;
  • is practical and smart;
  • identifies the children with the school;
  • prevents children from coming to school in fashion clothes that could be distracting to their learning;
  • makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance;
  • is regarded as suitable wear for school and good value for money by most parents;
  • is designed with health, safety and practicality in mind.
This policy has been reviewed in accordance with the ‘Cost of school uniforms’ statutory guidance published in November 2021.
The following factors were considered when reviewing the policy:
  • Overall cost implications of the school uniform for parents
  • Frequency of changes to uniform specification to minimise any financial impact on parents
  • Necessity and supplier of branded items
  • Sustainability & ethical supply chains
  • Provision of second-hand uniforms

Please make sure all clothing is clearly labelled, including school shoes, socks, lunch boxes and drink bottles.

*Your child also requires a school book bag and a water bottle.

Jewellery

Children may wear small plain stud earrings if they have their ears pierced, but earrings must not be worn for PE lessons.Pupils should remove earrings themselves before PE lessons and place in a named purse/coin bag. Younger children may struggle to remove and replace earrings themselves and it is advisable not to wear them on PE days.

Covering earrings with tape gives perception of safety but it is not recommended as tape can fall off and does not reduce the risk ofcompression injury.

Watches may be worn at the owner’s risk.

Hair

Long hair (longer than shoulder length) should be tied back. No fashion hairstyles.
